Thando’s Shoes – Foldable Ballerina Flats

Katie – I walk a lot. Although I recently relocated from New York to Los Angeles, I still use public transportation wherever I can and need a shoe that won’t act like a torture chamber for my feet. These ballet flats from Thando’s make you feel as if you’re walking on pillows. Their lightweight, split sole design gives you flexibility, unlike more rigid flats, but they still have a thick rubber sole to protect your feet from concrete or other hard surfaces.

These flats are foldable and easy to roll up and pack in your bag. They come with a stylish carrying pouch that I’ve used for other going out purposes. I found that the shoe has a wide, forgiving fit, but the company recommends ordering a size up from your usual size (I’m a 9 and this 10 fit perfectly).

The draw of this shoe is not just comfort; it’s the designs. Thando’s has partnered with African artists and designers from across the continent, giving them a global platform to show their unique and awe-inspiring prints. I’m wearing the Class Act Remix Flat, a denim peep toe with a belt of blue and orange print. I love how this shoe shows my toe cleavage and acts as an unexpected burst of color to my grey/denim uniform. It’s easy to embrace the color when the prints are this beautiful.

Tyi – They say that “Good shoes take you to good places,” and I cannot WAIT to rock my new Thando’s Shoes everywhere I go. Like many of you, I am a “colors” girl. I love a great pattern, radiant staple piece, or a mirage of colors on any piece of my outfit. The First Kiss flat is perfect for giving me my “colorful” fix, while at the same time remaining comfortable and simple. The yellow and black pattern fits so well with any denim look and is wearable long throughout the day. I am very big on comfort, especially with my shoes, so it is important that I have enough room both lengthwise and widthwise.

Although I was able to fit my regular shoe size, it is safe to say that the Thando’s Shoes do run a bit snug. If you are someone with a wider foot, definitely take that into consideration before purchasing. All in all, the First Kiss Flat has added some real sass to my wardrobe. I am so excited to see what other outfits I can create with another pair of new shoes.

Bree – The most beautiful thing about Thando’s is how size inclusive they are. Hold your chair ladies! Their shoes are offered in sizes 6-15, now how do you like them apples?!

In conclusion we are big fans, we love what Thando’s stands for, we love that husband and wife came together to create such a great brand, we love that they have considered women on each end of the spectrum, Thando’s supports African women in the fabric trade and creates their designs in collaboration with African artists and tastemakers.

Do you need any more reasons to try out and support this great shop? What are you waiting for? Go get your Thando’s!
