When we find a new retailer that caters to us, the feeling we get is best described as euphoria. It is a state of intense excitement and happiness as we are able to add one more option to our arsenal of tall retailers. This feeling does not happen often..it is rare and it is special.
Now, Lane Bryant is a very well known brand. I have known about them for years, but I assumed they did not carry tall items. I’m sure some of you can relate to making this assumption in order to avoid disappointment. We tall women face size disappointment so frequently when it comes to fashion that we may unconsciously avoid non-specialty retailers.
One faithful afternoon, as I was searching the worldwide web to see if anything ‘new’ had come up, I found myself on the lanebryant.com tall/long jeans page.. What?! How did I miss the fact that Lane Bryant, a store that made the first commercial maternity dress over 100 years ago and consistently champions plus-size, also carries tall Sizes? Well, Tall Sisters, guilty as charged here. I am late to the Lane Bryant Party, but I’m here and I’m staying!
After my search, I connected with their offices and they kindly sent me some options to try. Although Lane Bryant currently offers only tall/long sizes for their pants’ section, I was surprised to find out that, at 6’4”, their straight sizes fit me in both dresses and rompers. Let’s have a look at my very first Lane Bryant picks.
First up is the French Terry Romper, offering both comfort and style in one piece. I opted to size up as I prefer baggy over tight, so I am wearing an 18/20 here. This is arguably my favorite piece in my wardrobe right now, perfect for outdoor summer activities. I found the 5’5 inseam to be perfect for me, as I’m not a fan of rompers that almost become booty shorts. Also VERY important, it has pockets. Pockets make everything better. It’s a winner in my book.
Next up is a dress I can wear for both work and leisure. The Belted Shirtdress is a perfect summer staple to wear from day to night. I feel that all Tall Sisters should have a few of these in their closet as they are appropriate for most occasions. Here I am wearing a size 18. This dress is seasons specific and will work best in spring and summer, as the light cotton fabric feels airy and breathable.
