As tall women, we understand that shopping is hard- much harder than it should be. The good news is that, we have dedicated the time and effort into finding some of the best of the best tall, size inclusive clothing brands we could find in 2020, so you don’t have to. Over the coming weeks we will be featuring a whopping 12 incredible Black Owned Tall Brands. Lets get started, shall we?
In 2018, Tiffany Jones-Lewis founded TJL Collection in Dallas, Texas. “I did not start embracing my height until my early 20’s when I met my husband,” said Tiffany, “I wore my height way too much and allowed it to be the only thing that people saw. I did not wear heels even though I love them. It took time to love every part of myself, to include my beautiful height.” So many of us can relate to not being able to see the positive aspects of being different than so many women around us. Thankfully, Tiffany was motivated by this insecurity to start an inclusive clothing brand fit for women who experienced the same obstacles that she has just overcome.
When asked why she started her brand, Tiffany stated, “I have always loved sewing, but never imagined that I would be doing it as a profession. Before TJL, I owned a boutique for years. I couldn’t fit the clothes, never wore my own pieces, and did not love it in general. I released though I loved fashion, I had to create a brand that I could stand behind. I started formal training to learn pattern making, and how to professionally create pieces. I went from custom only to Ready to Wear pieces within 2 years,” she said, “I have 5 tall sisters, a tall mom, tall nieces, and a tall daughter who all struggle. They motivated me well before I realized how big the market was.” Since discovering how many people shared her same struggles as it pertains to clothing and style, she has done everything she can to help everyone find the comfort within their height through fashion as she was able to find.
Once she started TJL, she finally experienced the feeling of wearing her own pieces, being proud of the brand that she was growing, and making a difference within a demographic that often goes unnoticed. “My brand is everyday pieces for the Chic Working woman. I love pieces that can be worn multiple times in multiple ways. I always say my customers will be the best dressed in corporate”, Tiffany stated. And best dressed they are!

Sante + Wade
5 foot 9 inch Agnès Cushnie began her brand, Sante + Wade in London, back in 2018.“I’ve always loved my height, as in fairness, it is an average tall and so really the only negative for me was to wear high heels without being head and shoulders over my French boyfriend”, stated Cushnie. “I was Naomi Campbell’s height so as far as I was concerned the 15-year-old version of me was cool with that.”
Offering beautifully crafted shoes at a fair price to accommodate the needs of women who have been denied choice, Sante + Wade ethos is governed by a commitment to cultivate individuality and encouraging women from different paths to stand out and be bold. Our customer can be long and lean, full and curvaceous, size 38 or 45, but she is always unapologetically feminine and true to herself.
With the idea that regardless of your height, you should be able to wear shoes that make you feel sexy, powerful, and confident, Sante + Wade was born.”We conceived Sante + Wade from our frustration at finding beautiful footwear that fits. Being a size 42 and working in the fashion industry most of my adult life, I pretty much got used to gazing at coveted heels from distance because most would not fit me. When Shola approached me with the idea for Sante + Wade, I knew there was a clear need to address in this area.”

Back in 2016, Rhonda Mapp began a clothing brand in Raleigh, North Carolina called Rhonda Lynette, and in 2018, realized that there was a need that she wanted to fill because there was a huge group of women that she was not yet catering to. “I had struggles accepting my height up until college. I was always known as the tall girl in school. I would often feel embarrassed walking down the hallways and hanging with friends because I was tall,” said 5-foot-10 Rhonda. “In college, I began to accept my height because I saw other tall girls around campus and that encouraged me to love my height.”
Rhonda Lynette is a brand for the tall, on the go woman. Some of the pieces you can wear to work and head to cocktail hour right after. Other pieces are casual, dressy, and perfect for the right occasions. “We’re a brand that provides pieces that you can’t get anywhere else.”
When asked what her favorite and most popular styles are, Rhonda listed
