How my mom has influenced my personal style!

This is a sponsored post that contains affiliate links.

Shortly after a memorable vacation with my mom in the Caribbean and with mother’s day around the corner, it is time to shine a spotlight on the most important woman in my life, my mom.

My mom Carmen Helene Wijnaar was born in Suriname. Suriname is a small country on the northeastern coast of South America, nestled in between the Guyana’s bordering Brazil. Mom moved from Suriname to The Netherlands when she was a child, for better education and overall better opportunities. Lets call it the Dutch dream!

Going through mom’s pictures from when she was in her early 20’s, I noticed she was quite the fashionista. Style was always high on the agenda and she was leading the pack with her creative ensembles. Not much has changed. My mom is fly! Look at those platform heels!

Mom has definitely left a mark on me when it comes to dressing well and dressing for your body type. Presenting yourself in a tasteful way was important and she always made that known. I was never really able to raid her closet because I surpassed her in height by age 12 or so, thus sharing the same or similar sizing is a scenario we have never been presented with. Nevertheless going to store after store after store to find clothing that worked for me, is something that we tackled together and for that I am grateful.

The style my mom instilled in me, is confidence and I wear it proudly every day.

My mom’s influence on my style has been impactful in the best way possible, repeating her words spoken frequently throughout my childhood:

“You are beautiful!”

“You are unique!”

Without these words of positive reinforcement, I am unsure if I would be the confident woman I am today, so therefore I am grateful. I hope you will enjoy browsing all the Tall Styles over at Gwynnie Bee, add them to your virtual wardrobe and receive them at home in no time.

Much love to you all  my tall sisters, have a wonderful week!
